“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.” (Lk 10:23)
FIRST READING: JB 42:1-3, 5-6, 12-17
A reading from the Book of Job
Job answered the LORD and said:
I know that you can do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be hindered.
I have dealt with great things that I do not understand;
things too wonderful for me, which I cannot know.
I had heard of you by word of mouth,
but now my eye has seen you.
Therefore I disown what I have said,
and repent in dust and ashes.
Thus the LORD blessed the latter days of Job
more than his earlier ones.
For he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels,
a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.
And he had seven sons and three daughters,
of whom he called the first Jemimah,
the second Keziah, and the third Kerenhappuch.
In all the land no other women were as beautiful
as the daughters of Job;
and their father gave them an inheritance
along with their brothers.
After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years;
and he saw his children, his grandchildren,
and even his great-grandchildren.
Then Job died, old and full of years.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY: LK 10:17-24
From the Gospel according to Luke
The seventy-two disciples returned rejoicing and said to Jesus,
“Lord, even the demons are subject to us because of your name.”
Jesus said, “I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky.
Behold, I have given you the power
‘to tread upon serpents’ and scorpions
and upon the full force of the enemy
and nothing will harm you.
Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you,
but rejoice because your names are written in heaven.
”At that very moment he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,
“I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows who the Son is except the Father,
and who the Father is except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
Turning to the disciples in private he said,
“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
For I say to you,
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see,
but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”
SATURDAY OF THE TWENTY-SIX WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME-Gospel (Lk 10:17-24)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear people of God,
In today's Word of God, God the Father tells His disciples that the love that He has for mankind is above all love, and in return for all the love that He places in humanity, we must live in a way that pleases Him.
In obedience to following the teachings of God the Father, all the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven and the Spirit of the Holy Spirit will act and reveal the infinite greatness of God the Father.
What God the Father promises He will fulfill in the Kingdom of Heaven in the future.
But besides that, humanity needs to awaken to one thing: be alert to the very subtle temptations of Satan because they will not let the disciples be close to God to listen and put into practice His teachings.
That is, through daily life, humanity must unite more closely with God, and stay by His side so that He can give us strength to fight against Satan's powerful temptations of worldly desires and passions.
Humans need to give thanks to God! Because of love, He sent His only Son to earth to become a human being to accompany and be with humanity, to expel Satan.
Spirit and love are all He will give as strength to humans. Only spirit and God's love can conquer Satan's temptations.
Today's Word of God teaches humanity that even though Jesus is God, He is always intimately united with God the Father, constantly praying for the apostles and His children.
Therefore, humans need to follow that example and closely unite with God the Father in all places, at all times, living in a spirit of love, and giving thanks to God, then we can overcome death.
This is an absolute shining example of Jesus' life of intimate union with God the Father, we must follow this example to be happy in the Kingdom of Heaven with God.
Today's Word of God, once again God reminds humans that we must be vigilant to the temptations of Satan because their temptations will be very strong and take advantage of the weaknesses of humans when we are not awake so that they can take the soul away from the love of God the Father.
In this new era, God the Father uses people in His plan through His strength and power to cast out Satan, resist the temptations of Satan by living in intimate union with Him, avoid the occasion of sin, resisting their temptations, obey His Holy Will then they will overcome the evils, the sins brought about by Satan.
What God the Father wants to teach humanity in today's world is to believe in His work in this new era, come to Him, and ask Him to give us more strength, more power to resist the temptations of Satan, to drive away the demons of Satan who oppose us, hoping to steal your soul.
Through a life of love, through a life of obedience, and fear of God, we will please God the Father, and He will give us the reward of the Kingdom of Heaven in the future.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
