MEMORIAL OF THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS - Gospel (Mt 18:1-5-10) - THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

“Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.” (Mt 18:4)

FIRST READING: Jb 9:1-12, 14-16

A reading from the Book of Job

Job answered his friends and said:

I know well that it is so;

but how can a man be justified before God?

Should one wish to contend with him,

he could not answer him once in a thousand times.

God is wise in heart and mighty in strength;

who has withstood him and remained unscathed?

He removes the mountains before they know it;

he overturns them in his anger.

He shakes the earth out of its place,

and the pillars beneath it tremble.

He commands the sun, and it rises not;

he seals up the stars.

He alone stretches out the heavens

and treads upon the crests of the sea.

He made the Bear and Orion,

the Pleiades and the constellations of the south;

He does great things past finding out,

marvelous things beyond reckoning.

Should he come near me, I see him not;

should he pass by, I am not aware of him;

Should he seize me forcibly, who can say him nay?

Who can say to him, "What are you doing?"

How much less shall I give him any answer,

or choose out arguments against him!

Even though I were right, I could not answer him,

but should rather beg for what was due me.

If I appealed to him and he answered my call,

I could not believe that he would hearken to my words.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY: Mt 18:1-5, 10

From the Gospel according to Matthew

The disciples approached Jesus and said,

"Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?"

He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said,

"Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children,

you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.

Whoever humbles himself like this child

is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.

And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones,

for I say to you that their angels in heaven

always look upon the face of my heavenly Father."

MEMORIAL OF THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS - Gospel (Mt 18:1-5-10)

THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE

Dear People of God,

In today's word of God, the Father reminds all His children to remember their guardian angels, whom He gives to each soul. God the Father sends these angels to accompany, guard and protect people, the beloved children of God the Father, from the attacks of Satan on their bodies and souls.

God reminds His children: to live according to what God the Father teaches, never do anything that displeases God the Father. Live in love and forgiveness. Be charitable to your brothers and sisters. Therefore, when facing any difficulties, challenges, or persecutions, always know how to worship God and love your brothers and sisters; never have an attitude of contempt or exclusion, because that does not come from God the Father.

God the Father wants all of His children to always listen to God the Father's reminders through the guardian angels, because these angels are sent to accompany people. So when traveling or doing anything, trust in the words of God the Father: "See, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared." (Ex 23:20). On the way to the House of God, each person is given a guardian angel by God the Father, to accompany people at all times and in all places. In particular, these guardian angels are always present around God the Father, interceding with God the Father, for the soul of each person while living on this earth. Whatever God the Father sees in the soul of each person, God the Father also gives light to the guardian angels, so that they can come to protect and shelter that soul. They can also see whether that person is doing good or bad.

To be loved by God the Father, to have God the Father answer the prayers of the guardian angel for you, everyone must live to please God the Father in all places and at all times. Do not do anything against the law of love that God the Father has given. Thank God for giving guardians angels to each person from the moment they are formed.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
