“Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me.” (Lk 10:16)
FIRST READING: Jb 38:1, 12-21; 40:3-5
A reading from the Book of Job
The LORD addressed Job out of the storm and said:
Have you ever in your lifetime commanded the morning
and shown the dawn its place
For taking hold of the ends of the earth,
till the wicked are shaken from its surface?
The earth is changed as is clay by the seal,
and dyed as though it were a garment;
But from the wicked the light is withheld,
and the arm of pride is shattered.
Have you entered into the sources of the sea,
or walked about in the depths of the abyss?
Have the gates of death been shown to you,
or have you seen the gates of darkness?
Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all:
Which is the way to the dwelling place of light,
and where is the abode of darkness,
That you may take them to their boundaries
and set them on their homeward paths?
You know, because you were born before them,
and the number of your years is great!
Then Job answered the LORD and said:
Behold, I am of little account; what can I answer you?
I put my hand over my mouth.
Though I have spoken once, I will not do so again;
though twice, I will do so no more.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY: Lk 10:13-16
From the Gospel according to Luke
Jesus said to them,
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented,
sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the netherworld.'
Whoever listens to you listens to me.
Whoever rejects you rejects me.
And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."
FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME-Gospel (Lk 10:13-16)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
Today's Word of God teaches everyone that those who have heard God's teachings and lived according to His words must faithfully follow Him until the end.
Those who have been taught by God's words, seen God's works, and witnessed His miracles, must put into practice according to God's calling. Do not fall into misery over not putting into practice, as Jesus said: "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!" That is God's warning to humanity when we do not follow according to God's calling.
The Word of God today calls on all mankind to faithfully follow God's path in order to gain eternal life in His Kingdom. If anyone who has heard and accepted the word of God, recognized the miracles He has performed, and seen the power and might of God, but does not live and practice according to God's calling, then that person will be 'woeful' as Jesus said in today's Gospel.
Besides, the Word of God teaches that whoever lives and practices what God teaches and calls, He will give that person grace according to His will. And from the grace received, that person must learn how to share, give, go out, and preach the Good News of the Kingdom of Heaven to those around them, so that they can also receive the light of eternal life in the Kingdom of God.
Today, God also tells everyone to be attentive to the calling of His disciples, listen to the calls of those who have lived and practiced the teachings of God. Each person must share and give the graces received from God to others. And everyone must also know how to open their hearts to receive and listen to the words of God taught by others. This is when these people live and practice according to God's teachings and calling because Jesus said: "Whoever listens to you listens to me".
Today, God calls everyone to
-Listen and accept the calling of those who live and practice according to God's commandments:
-Know how to share and give the grace received from God to others
-We must always be united, share, listen, and practice according to God's teachings.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
