FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Lk 8:1-3) - THE WORD OF GOD EVERYONE

"These women provided for Jesus and His disciples out of their resources." (Lk 8:3)

FIRST READING: 1 COR 15:12-20

A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians

Brothers and sisters:

If Christ is preached as raised from the dead,

how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead?

If there is no resurrection of the dead,

then neither has Christ been raised.

And if Christ has not been raised, then empty too is our preaching;

empty, too, your faith.

Then we are also false witnesses to God,

because we testified against God that he raised Christ,

whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised.

For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised,

and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain;

you are still in your sins.

Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

If for this life only we have hoped in Christ,

we are the most pitiable people of all.

But now Christ has been raised from the dead,

the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY: LK 8:1-3

From the Gospel according to Luke

Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another,

preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God.

Accompanying him were the Twelve

and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities,

Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,

Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza,

Susanna, and many others

who provided for them out of their resources.

FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Lk 8:1-3)

THE WORD OF GOD EVERYONE

Dear People of God,

Today's Word of God speaks of the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus came to earth, He did not come to a particular group in society, but He came to all of humanity to give God's love. God's immense love must be spread to all mankind and all nations.

God came to the world to save and liberate humanity from sin, diseases, infirmities, and the captivity of Satan. After humans are freed from the captivity of Satan by God, God will open their hearts so that they can recognize a God of love, Jesus Christ, who has come and is with them. By recognizing that God's love is with them, they accept the call of Jesus Christ to collaborate in God's plan of salvation. They go out with Him to preach the Gospel everywhere in the world.

First, God called and chose twelve apostles, and to accompany the group of twelve, He also called the sick people who had been healed by God to collaborate with Him. Therefore, today, God calls all members of God's people to have the duty and mission to go out and preach the Gospel. This is to bring God's salvation to all humanity because God loves and wants to save all mankind.

Today's Word of God also calls everyone to:

- Look at the example of the Blessed Mother Mary, the holy apostles, and the women who in the past collaborated in the work of preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. So in today's world, everyone should boldly go out to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, using the gifts God has given to bring God to many people, helping them to receive the graces of conversion, faith, and healing so that they can also receive the salvation given by God.

- Be bold and courageous in proclaiming that the one God and the God of love has come and is with everyone so that souls will repent of their sins and return to God; through that, they will be freed by God from the captivity of Satan, and their souls will always be at peace and happy in God.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
