“We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.” (Lk 13:26)
FIRST READING - Eph 6:1-9
A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Honor your father and mother.
This is the first commandment with a promise,
that it may go well with you
and that you may have a long life on earth.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger,
but bring them up with the training and instruction of the Lord.
Slaves, be obedient to your human masters with fear and trembling,
in sincerity of heart, as to Christ,
not only when being watched, as currying favor,
but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
willingly serving the Lord and not men,
knowing that each will be requited from the Lord
for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.
Masters, act in the same way towards them, and stop bullying,
knowing that both they and you have a Master in heaven
and that with him there is no partiality.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - Lk 13:22-30
From the Gospel according to Luke
Jesus passed through towns and villages,
teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.
Someone asked him,
"Lord, will only a few people be saved?"
He answered them,
"Strive to enter through the narrow gate,
for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter
but will not be strong enough.
After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door,
then will you stand outside knocking and saying,
'Lord, open the door for us.'
He will say to you in reply,
'I do not know where you are from.'
And you will say,
'We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.'
Then he will say to you,
'I do not know where you are from.
Depart from me, all you evildoers!'
And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth
when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God
and you yourselves cast out.
And people will come from the east and the west
and from the north and the south
and will recline at table in the Kingdom of God.
For behold, some are last who will be first,
and some are first who will be last."
30th WEDNESDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Lk 13:22-30)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
In today's Word of God, God calls everyone to strive to pass through the narrow gate to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, repent of our sins, and follow the path that Jesus Christ has taken to attain the eternal happiness of the Kingdom of Heaven in the future.
God teaches everyone that to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, everyone must undergo purification, must undergo difficult and thorny paths, and must be polished, pruned, and cleansed by God from all the thorns, dirt, and sins of earthly people so that we can become a holy, righteous, pure, and completely virginal person in order to attain the happiness of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Therefore, God always calls people: while still living in this world, to always live by His teachings and put them into practice.
Do not just speak, do not proclaim the Word of God on our lips without putting it into practice.
God wants those who receive His grace to know how to share and spread the word of God and His grace to others, knowing to lead, inviting everyone to know the God of love so that they also live and obey the teachings of the Word of God so that they too can attain the happiness of the Kingdom of Heaven.
He does not want humanity to live selfishly for ourselves, but to understand how to love, give, share, and support other souls.
In order to help other souls, that person must live according to what God teaches, which is to give up all passions, power, honor, and worldly glory to follow the narrow path that Jesus Christ has gone through; that is, the path of the cross, the path of suffering; because only suffering in the grace of God leads to glory, and to attain eternal life.
Today's Word of God calls on humans to:
-Always walk on the path that God has walked, which is the narrow path, the path of the cross and suffering.
-To look at the image of Jesus Christ, the only Son of God who is full of power, but out of love and obedience to God the Father, He sacrificed, humbly lowered Himself to earth to become a human being to accompany and be with people, became a poor person, was crucified, died on the Cross to redeem the sins of humanity, and He was resurrected in glory with God the Father.
Therefore, today's Word of God calls on the apostles and all His children to walk the path that Jesus Christ has walked, which is the path of sacrifice, to die for others; to accompany our brothers and sisters, to support and help them escape from the captivity of Satan so that together we can attain happiness in the eternal Kingdom of Heaven in the future, that is what God is most pleased with.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
