“Gird your loins and light your lamps.” (Lk 12:35)
FIRST READING - EPH 2:12-22
A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians
Brothers and sisters:
You were at that time without Christ,
alienated from the community of Israel
and strangers to the covenants of promise,
without hope and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off
have become near by the Blood of Christ.
For he is our peace, he made both one
and broke down the dividing wall of enmity, through his Flesh,
abolishing the law with its commandments and legal claims,
that he might create in himself one new person in place of the two,
thus establishing peace,
and might reconcile both with God,
in one Body, through the cross,
putting that enmity to death by it.
He came and preached peace to you who were far off
and peace to those who were near,
for through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.
So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners,
but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones
and members of the household of God,
built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.
Through him the whole structure is held together
and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord;
in him you also are being built together
into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY - LK 12:35-38
From the Gospel according to Luke
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.”
29TH TUESDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Lk 12:35-38)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear People of God,
Today's Word of God, God the Father warns His children that when living in this world, be vigilant against the temptations of Satan.
Because they always lead humanity to fall into the habit of enjoying life, indulging, and falling into the passion of sin, while forgetting that the main thing to do is to care for the salvation of the soul, which means to care about how to live in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Through the story of the servant waiting for his master to return from a wedding, God the Father wants to remind His children to always be vigilant and ready to wait for the day when God takes our souls and bodies out of this world.
God the Father wants His children to repent of our sins, walk in the light and grace of God the Father, and be pleasing to Him.
It is God the Father's desire for all of us to be vigilant, to always live in love and forgiveness, and to always be charitable and altruistic towards our brothers and sisters.
He calls on everyone to love God above all things and love others as ourselves.
Stay vigilant and pray to be closely united with God the Father, so as not to fall into the temptations of Satan, but always walk in the light and love of God.
Today's Word of God reminds everyone to be vigilant and do what He teaches so that Satan will be defeated. Otherwise, Satan will continue to rage in the soul and body leading humanity into the sinful passions, enjoyment, and pleasures of the world. These passions are not pleasing to God the Father.
Therefore, God the Father calls on everyone, especially those who have been called by God the Father to join the Army of Light, as well as all those whose hearts are touched by God the Father, to be vigilant and live faithfully to God the Father.
Being faithful to God the Father means doing exactly what He commands so that Satan can no longer have the opportunity to steal our souls.
And when the time comes, when God the Father sees that the time of purification on this earth is over, He will come to take our souls and bodies to enjoy happiness in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Listen to and put into practice the words of God the Father, that is the wisdom that He calls on His children.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
