“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” (Lk 11:23)
FIRST READING: GAL 3:7-14
A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians
Brothers and sisters:
Realize that it is those who have faith
who are children of Abraham.
Scripture, which saw in advance that God
would justify the Gentiles by faith,
foretold the good news to Abraham, saying,
Through you shall all the nations be blessed.
Consequently, those who have faith are blessed
along with Abraham who had faith.
For all who depend on works of the law are under a curse;
for it is written, Cursed be everyone
who does not persevere in doing all the things
written in the book of the law.
And that no one is justified before God by the law is clear,
for the one who is righteous by faith will live.
But the law does not depend on faith;
rather, the one who does these things will live by them.
Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us,
for it is written, Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree,
that the blessing of Abraham might be extended
to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus,
so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY: LK 11:15-26
From the Gospel according to Luke
When Jesus had driven out a demon, some of the crowd said:
“By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons,
he drives out demons.”
Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.
But he knew their thoughts and said to them,
“Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste
and house will fall against house.
And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your own people drive them out?
Therefore they will be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,
and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
“When an unclean spirit goes out of someone,
it roams through arid regions searching for rest
but, finding none, it says,
‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’
But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order.
Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits
more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there,
and the last condition of that man is worse than the first.”
27th FRIDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - Gospel (Lk 11:15-26)
THE WORD OF GOD FOR EVERYONE
Dear people of God,
In today's Word of God, God the Father teaches about the work of the apostles of the past and present, when fighting against the devil Satan, listen to the Word of God the Father's teachings and put it into practice.
What God the Father wants to say here is: Satan is only the one who opposes the work of God the Father, only the one who comes to cause division, jealousy, envy, arrogance, competition, wanting to separate people from God's guidance, causing suspicion among each other. Therefore, people should not resist the will of God, because then people will not be able to defeat Satan, will not benefit their own souls and those of others.
As in today's Word of God, God invites people to believe in the power and strength of Jesus Christ. He is the true God, He came to the world to love and dispel Satan. All those who believe in the name of Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, live and follow His teachings, will resist the temptations of Satan. Therefore, the blessings that God gives to our brothers and sisters is to have power over Satan, so let us humbly and simply accept this reality, do not condemn our brothers and sisters. God the Father also teaches those who are touched by God to dispel Satan who is controlling their souls and bodies, to live in a way that resists the temptations of Satan that make them commit sins, that is, to know how to carry out the will of God the Father in all places and at all times, through a gentle and humble life, through a life of love and forgiveness, through a life of fearing God the Father above all things and loving others as ourselves, always living in close union with God the Father, so that our hearts are empty. Because with the love and fear of God, Satan will no longer have the opportunity to make the soul commit a sin that displeases God the Father.
The words that God the Father teaches in real life today, let's put them into practice, because God's words are the light, the path that leads people to the happiness of the Kingdom of Heaven.
God the Father invites people to repent, abandon the path of sin and return to God the Father, abandon Satan, resist their temptations with a pure life, pure from the soul to the body. Closely unite with God the Father, through receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ when attending the Holy Mass in daily life.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
